Page 1 of 2 1970 - 1998 The Waltham Walk is a challenge expedition open to teams of three, aged between 12 and 19 inclusive, from any youth organisation or school. The teams will need to be equipped with food and lightweight camping gear for a two day expedition through the Essex countryside. The teams will walk between checkpoints where they will undertake various incidents and initiative tests which will vary enormously; from crossing rivers with ropes, to obstacle races and first aid incidents. The Waltham Walk is competitive and incudes an age bonus allowance benefiting younger teams within the age limits. "The Boot" is presented to the winning team, with various cups and trophies being awarded to the runners up. Everyone finishing the walk successfully are awarded a certificate. The lowest placed team is awarded "The Old Boot"! |
