Page 1 of 4 Equipment Teams must be suitably clad for the expedition, which covers 17 miles on the saturday and 8 miles on the sunday. All equipment and first Aid kit must be carried all weekend (exception are mini-trek and veterns who carry day sacks). A mimimum ket list is given below:
Experience The
competition is strenuous & the going is tough. Physical fitness &
stamina training prior to the weekend is essential. One member of the
team at least should be familiar with the basic principles of first
aid. With the exception of Vets & Supervets teams, team
supervisors are responsible for ensuring the whole team's readiness
for the weekend, especially with regards to navigation skills. We reget entry fees are not refundable to those not starting. Insurance All teams take part at their own risk. Insurance arrangements with teams' own parent organisations may well cover their participation in the event but notification to insurers may be necessary. The Waltham Walk holds Third Party Liability insurance for the event, only. Campsite Visiting staff can also camp on Saturday, there is a cost involved please contact us for details. (In tent or vehicle) On
the Friday evening, limited accommodation will be available for teams
travelling from far afield.
Available 2130 Fri to 0900 Sat ONLY. Please DO NOT
arrive earlier than 9.30pm on the Friday. This must be booked
in advance on the pre-booking form and will be charged. Queries Teams will walk between checkpoints denoted by MRs. At each checkpoint, the details of the next leg will be displayed on the CP board. Each leg will have a target time and 1 point will be deducted from the points allowed for each 2 minutes late. The target time is very tight & only a few teams will achieve it! Points will be awarded for each "puzzle" correctly answered, & for each incident. Puzzle answers must be WRITTEN in the log-book, not given verbally, to avoid others hearing. Teams will be booked out from each checkpoint 10 minutes after they have completed each incident. They may leave straightaway, thereby gaining time or rest for the 10 minutes. FinishThe finish, where hot food will be provided for teams between approximately noon and 2pm. Visiting staff meal tickets must be ordered using the pre-order form, as they have to be ordered from our outside caters prior to the weekend. The prize-giving will start at approximately 3pm once the points have been calculated & checked, and certificates written. There may be an exhibition by COTSWOLD Outdoor, our prize sponsor. Visitng Staff In view of staffing shortages we are asking all competing groups to provide at least 1 person to give 4 hours help at a checkpoint Saturday or Sunday if at all possible. Please advise of your availability by Mon 8th May.
